The multi-tasker.

So after ‘awesome’, comes another one-‘Love’. Such an easy to use word. ‘I love -the weather, love your dress, love the way you dance, love running , Love All(tennis) ,What are you doing love? and…I love you.’A perfect word of affection, abundantly used to evade the inadequacies of one’s vocabulary! Same @4 letters LOVE /even @3 with LUV and @💓 ! The language of the Brits is convenient; what say? And the whole world knows it, understands it and uses it, liberally!Products sell in the word. “I am lovin’ it” and “it must be love” are unbeatable tag lines.Diverse products with same ardent appeal of the word. Did you guess the products? ‘Love’ has that appeal, more so for the new age Indians.Easy to transcend the barriers of region and language, with this multi tasker.

Because of the specific compartments of Urdu, Hindi or Sanskrit, same LOVE becomes Pyaar,Preet, Prem, and when used, are a bit too cumbersome and inappropriate. It doesn’t come anywhere close to the English ‘Love’ with its…use and throw formula. Imagine someone at a party coming up to you and saying-‘Mujhe aapke vastra se prem hai’(I love your dress). Finished!!

I so remember the superhit movie ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’! We, the whole family went off to the theatre to enjoy the flick except a senior aunt of mine. While we were gone, an uncle called to speak to my father. So Aunty told him that we were out for a movie. ‘Which one’? was his query. Aunty wouldn’t utter the crass words as she found it embarrassing !! She kept feining forgetfulness and the uncle very mischievously kept asking her to recall the name. But jokes apart, I simply love the way ‘Love’ is used.Venturing into literal translations for the sake of proving one’s language’s supremacy can be sticky, believe me. How I wish, there was a similar ‘Fix it’ word in Hindi, too.

Latest, on the scene -The ‘Yo’ generation has discovered that ‘Love’ doesn’t sound active enough, so loving on is trending!
