Triple Whammy

Just a lockdown was not sounding impressive enough, my city recently self imposed a triple! It took all wise men and women to decipher the meaning… after all, lockdown itself is just a four months old addition to our vocabulary. So its discipline, discipline and discipline-in breathing, walking, talking and even in dying.

Our urban living continues without dithering; clean breeze and crystal clear sunshine is aplenty and yet I feel the urge to complain. Living and it’s paraphernalia continue day in and out, without any recess. Ironical but true, body demands food and rest! Mind requires entertainment and exhilaration;gets it through virtual work and leisure in the form of television, social media, family discussions and aimless chatter over the phone.

But the soul is pretty fatigued. What next? Yes, reached this far in life to be locked in and at the mercy of a virus, that too- a belligerent one like it’s creator! What should you aim at? Remembering all the Virus attack movies of Hollywood makes my mind go numb with an unexplained fear, a “What if?” Only the lead hero and his lady love and maybe a self doubting scientist survive at the end of these Pandemic movies.

What if this pandemic decides to sweep the earth clean? How many heroes and their lady loves and those self doubting nerdy looking scientists gonna survive? Usually in the Hollywood movies, the privilege of this survival is given to the characters in the US of A, Shucks! What options do we have? Stay safe indoors and wither away gradually or leave caution to the winds and strive further and higher? That surely was the Mantra ( aka Bollywood style) for the gangster and police in the province of Uttar Pradesh in India! Police troubles Gangster…gangster kills police. Mind you, they all wore N- 95 masks to prevent Covid. Police chases gangster, police fails, gangster tires, gangster surrenders, police kills gangster. Police calls it encounter. Proved beyond doubt- Masks don’t prevent death.

“Been there done that’ , holds me back; while unexplored bastions keep calling me…Indomitable spirit and all, I too intend to march ahead. A nice WhatsApp forward with my favourite Kishore Kumar song accompanying it is all we need…

NB: Do overlook the spelling error in the video… It’s a forward.

  1. Loved your write up.
This sunset picture has added more meaning to it. Yes we have to keep up our good hopes and march on . Watching political games being carried over examinations of the students, playing with the economy of our country, never ever planning well and systematically to work over this pandemic, never discussing matters with doctors or scientists and so on and so forth.

When there were 500 cases we had beaten thalis and now awaiting gor DJs when cases are crossing 5 lakhs.

But yes life has to go on!
Lets take care of ourselves and our fellows as much as possible!

  3. Nice write-up sush! Indeed a difficult time for all of us… Can’t do anything but watch mutely as where all this is leading to.. realise the value of simple things we had few months back and how casually we treated everything those days..

  5. I believe that avoiding refined foods will be the first step to lose weight. They could taste beneficial, but ready-made foods have got very little vitamins and minerals, making you take in more in order to have enough vigor to get with the day. For anyone who is constantly eating these foods, transitioning to whole grain products and other complex carbohydrates will help you have more energy while eating less. Interesting blog post.
