The braves…

Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying ‘I will try again tomorrow’.

Mary Ann Radmacher

What do you make of those countless nameless faces we come across daily on the streets of India- pushing carts in the scorching sun, carrying sacks on their backs and heads- loading wagons and trucks, vendors who roam the streets , labourers who trudge up and down the construction sites with bricks and masonry work-loads… all trying to feed the supply chain where technology fails.

I see them daily, without fail- come sunshine rain or hail. They go on. No stress or depression prognosis by any NGO/ social thinker for them? Not worth a discussion on National prime time channels on their concerns or mental health! No TED talks and motivational mantras by the likes of smart gurus for them, you see.

From being sub altern to being sub human- the path for them is pretty simple. Are they even counted as citizens with feelings, emotions, wants and needs or they are just there, to add meat to our statistics!

Show them a bit of sympathy or kindness, and you may see a hint of response in their eyes- more out of wonderment and disbelief than acknowledgement. This breed of humans don’t think with their hearts! So save your breath. But, you can guess what would happen if they started thinking?

I bow down to these spirited humans who just go on.

  4. Insightful post that makes us aware of all the things that we take for granted, including theses humble souls. Humility is what I learn from them and salute their dignity!

  5. Bytheve, election of the TED talkers are no less than choosing a new pope at Vatican. It’s a business model, which has to churn out the revenue for TEDx. Speaker would not speak 🗣️ what a responsible citizen would like to hear because it does not sell.
