Describe your most memorable vacation.
It’s a short trip to a historic town by the Narmada river in Madhya Pradesh. The place gave us our valiant Ahilyabai Holkar, and that was enough to push me into climbing the gigantic steps up and down the palace and the premises. Wonder how they managed without lifts more than three centuries ago…
I was awestruck by the grand scale of things, the fortification, the giant gateways for elephants and cavalry , the darbaar hall and her own small temple. The mighty Narmada flows by the palace and you feel one with the whispering waves who seem to know it all – from then to now…
The handlooms stand testimony to her efforts at getting the women of her kingdom empowered into earning for themselves by weaving beautiful Maheshwari sarees…
This is just a peek into my vacation, as I don’t want to be a kill joy, no more details 🙏… Invite you all to visit the place and discover India like I do…

Ravishing place. Yes, the city was established by her. Thanks for sharing.

We’ve stayed in Jabalpore, Indore and Sagaur. Wonderful state. Bad roads though, atleast back then.
