1-2-3-4

What’s your favorite recipe?

😃 the 1-2-3-4 cake gets its name from the proportions of its base ingredients:

one cup of butter,

two cups of sugar,

three cups of flour,

four eggs.

In addition, I also add milk, baking powder, vanilla essence and salt in 4-3-2-1 order.

4 tbsp milk

3 tea spoon baking powder

2 tea spoon vanilla essence

1 level tea spoon salt.

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Butter and lightly flour  one 9-11 inch pan.
  3. Sift all dry ingredients in a bowl; set aside.
  4. Cream butter in a large bowl. Gradually add sugar, creaming until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time to creamed mixture, beating well after each addition. Add flour mixture alternately with milk and vanilla essence, blending after each addition until smooth. (Do not over beat as this will yield a dry cake.)
  5. Pour into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until tester inserted into cake comes out clean.
  7. Cool for 10 minutes, then remove from pan.
  8. Frost and decorate as desired, after complete cooling.

To make the cake chocolate: Replace 1/4 cup of flour with 1/4 cup cocoa powder to the dry ingredients.

A slice of simplicity ☺

I call it my favourite, as its easy make -easy bake. It adds a bit of jazz to the simple tea.
