a Phew!

Which languages do you speak and how did that impact your life?

Hehehe! I can get my tongue around a few:

Mother tongue Hindi

Mother’s native tongue: Bhojpuri

Father’s native tongue: Magadhi

Husbands tongue: Malayalam

National Second language: English

Can Follow: Bangla, Maithili, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Dogri, Urdu

Tried learning: French( stopped at je t’aime– got a certificate for trying as much😆)

Tried learning German ( had a roommate for a year who was a German, she picked up Hindi faster!  )Pursuit ends there.

Impact of knowing and speaking the languages: I get to hear a lot of things that are not meant for me😜. It is however quite   enjoyable- my half cooked knowledge of the languages in communication. One must be able to pick up a language if need be ; for food, shelter, help or survival.

Languages are human- invented. But how competent are we at the languages of empathy/ sympathy and philanthropy? Can we understand those languages?

  1. Nice to meet you, Sushmita. We seem to share quite a few linguistic adventures, languages known, understood, and somehow managed in conversation😊.

You’re right, while human languages can be learned, the real challenge is becoming fluent in the languages of empathy, compassion, and understanding. Those are perhaps the ones the world needs most.

Looking forward to reading and learning more.
